Fireworks Are Illegal in the City of Ruston

The 4th of July holiday is quickly approaching. The weather conditions are perfect for accidental fires at this time of year.  As a reminder fireworks are illegal within the city limits of Ruston. Attached is the municipal code for informational purposes. Please refrain from using fireworks at home and attend one of the many nearby celebrations that are putting on professional shows.

(b) Sale, Possession, Use and Discharge of Fireworks Unlawful.

(1) It is unlawful for any person to sell, possess, use, transfer, discharge, ignite or explode any fireworks, including, but not limited to, common and special fireworks, within the Town of Ruston; provided that this prohibition shall not apply to the following activities when authorized by a State license and Town permit:

(A) Duly authorized public displays as provided herein; and

(B) Special effects which shall be regulated by the current Uniform Fire Code, as adopted by ordinance.
