The Commencement saga continues with the bank that currently owns the building having not yet reached an agreement to sell the property. We hope that they are able to find a suitable buyer and this project can finally be completed. On a positive note, the bank has agreed to replace the existing exterior lighting and install the required dark sky compliant fixtures. This will help minimize the night time glare from the building.

Pt. Ruston continues to move ahead with their infrastructure work and we are looking forward to the new Ruston Way realignment and Baltimore reconnection sometime early 2012.

The owner of the old Coles building (51st & Pearl) has started on the renovation and is taking advantage of the tunnel closure and reduced traffic to undertake this project. The new owner has plans for residential units on the second floor with a pub/tavern on the first floor.

We continue to expand the town’s website and I would encourage you to visit it regularly. Our goal is to get as much of our old records digitized and available via our website. This is a work in progress and we continue to enhance it. The website can be found at .

I hope everyone will take the opportunity to participate in the National Night Out event. If your block wants to participate please submit your request to the police department so they can block off your street on August 2nd for the event. For information on National Night Out you can visit

Don’t forget Wednesday’s kick ball in the park – starts @ 6:00PM every Wednesday this summer. Also, our second annual Cadillac Car Show on August 21st – if you didn’t see it last year don’t miss it this year – it’s amazing.
