The Administrative Assistant will provide clerical and technical support to the City Clerk and Assistant City Clerk/Utility Clerk, City staff, and serve as the first point of contact for residents and visitors. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. The Administrative Assistant role is classified as a Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) non-exempt position. Business Licenses

The City of Ruston requires a license for all businesses located within city limits, or conducting business within city limits. If you are not sure if you will do business within the city limits, contact the city directly before you apply.  Use the link below to be apply for a business license through the Department of Revenue. 

Business & Occupational Tax

In addition to obtaining a business license, every person, firm, association, or corporation conducting business in the City is subject to the Business & Occupation (B&O) tax. This requirement applies to all businesses operating within the City, regardless of whether they are physically located inside or outside City limits. All businesses must be registered with the City Clerk and are subject to the B&O tax unless specifically exempted under the Ruston Municipal Code.  See Chapters 5.01 and 5.01A of the Ruston Municipal Code.

The Ruston Municipal Code requires your business to file quarterly returns, even if you owe no taxes.
